All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City will conduct its annual free children’s Music Camp July 12-16. The theme is “A Week of Praise” with a focus on a variety of music especially traditional hymns and praise songs.
Curriculum for the camp includes singing, dancing, an introduction to various instruments, composition, and art. It also features contests, games and snacks. No previous experience is required.
Guest musicians will begin and close each day leading worship music. This year's new additions to the program are a string lab, a percussion lab, and a keyboard lab. Children will have the chance to experiment with guitars, violins, dulcimers and harps.
Rev. Michael Fry and guest guitarist and vocalist Jeff Shepard will teach children about the elements of music composition such as melody, rhythm and texture. Music director Shannon Bryan and a number of adult volunteers will spearhead the program and provide supervision for the children.
Parents and friends will be invited to the “grand finale” and graduating presentation at noon on the 16th when the children get a chance to demonstrate what they have learned. Exanples of songs planned include such classics as “Praise to the Lord,the Almighty,” “For All the Saints,” “All Creatures of Our God and King” and “The Heart of Worship.”
The camp is scheduled for 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. daily It is open to the public and ages 4-12. It will be held at the church at 225 South Peachtree Parkway. Those interested may sign up by calling the church at 770-486-5374 or by visiting the church website at ptcanglican.org/registration.php.
